SSLC 2018

Langenburg teachers and students at Langenburg Central School won the bid to host 2018 Saskatchewan Student Leadership Conference (SSLC), an event that brought together almost 1000 Student Representative Council members and their teachers from across the province. The SSLC goal is to develop leadership skills, and abilities for students to help them to become tomorrow's leaders. The conference theme was Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’.

About 100 billet families opened their homes to students, with some residents hosting up to 14 kids. Local businesses and organizations sponsored the keynote speakers and tradeshow, and many volunteers prepared meals to feed hundreds of hungry teachers and students.

Keynote speakers were:
  • Jess Moskaluke - a Canadian Country/country pop singer. Jess grew up in this community and was SRC member as well;
  • Jon Montgomery - a Canadian skeleton racer and television host. He grew up just 15 min from Langenburg, in Russell, MB;
  • Katie Bergman - a published author and advocate for the prevention of human trafficking. She is another homegrown talent. She also used to be on the school newspaper.
