Langenburg chosen for Main Street Sask Program!

Yesterday was a very exciting day for Langenburg!  Three members of the community were present at the Legislative Building in Regina when the Honorable Mark Docherty, Minister of Parks, Culture & Sport made an exciting announcement that Langenburg has been chosen as one of the towns/cities in Saskatchewan to be accepted into the government’s Main Street Saskatchewan Program. Main Street Saskatchewan is a comprehensive strategy to revitalize historic downtowns and commercial districts.  Our goal is to revitalize the buildings on Main Street, have uniformity, showcase our culture and put on more events. We feel that this will increase the economy and bring more people to Langenburg to live, shop, and enjoy our town. There are two tiers to this program.  Langenburg applied for the first one which is the affiliate tier.  Soon we can apply for funding to use towards training, resources, inventory, etc. so that we can put together a plan that will be best for Main Street and surrounding businesses.  Once an effective plan is put in place and financial projections are completed we will apply for the Accredited tier where we can apply for more funding to help complete the projects outlined in our plan.   The affiliate tier is a great place to start and we are so honored to be chosen.   Some of the other communities announced in the program were larger centres such as Moose Jaw, Regina and Melfort.  We are thrilled to have been chosen and look forward to attending workshops in February to kick off the program.  Langenburg’s Main Street Revitalization Program will be administered by Michelle Nicholauson and the members of the Langenburg Economic Development Committee.  If anyone has any questions regarding this project please call 306.743.5177 or email:
