Economic Development Officer

The Town of Langenburg, in partnership with the RM of Langenburg, is seeking a qualified, highly motivated individual to fill the position as Economic Development Officer.

Who are we?

Conveniently located on Highway 16, the thriving Town of Langenburg prides itself on being a safe and friendly community.  Education is a high priority with a brand new Pre-K to Grade12 School that opened in 2016. Langenburg has a prosperous business community with excellent health and child care facilities, sporting programs and arts events that are second to none. We are in the heart of the agriculture industry with four potash mines on our doorstep that help contribute to high employment rates and a population boom in the surrounding area. Winters can be spent at the skating and curling rinks, taking in movies and shows at the local theatre, as well as enjoying the short drive to Asessippi Ski Hill. In the summer one can enjoy baseball and soccer at the local sport grounds, cool off at the swimming pool or even spend the day at Carlton Trail Golf Course or at Lake of the Prairies.

What’s the job?

The Economic Development Officer (EDO) reports to the Langenburg Community Development Board (LCDB) and works closely with the Langenburg Recreational Director, Town and RM Administrators as well as all businesses and members of the community.

The main goal for the EDO is to promote the distinctive advantages our area has to offer. Coordinating community-based economic development initiatives and working to maintain a vibrant environment is important for attracting new businesses. It is imperative to maintain strong working relationships with existing companies to help them grow here in our region.

Who are you?

If you are a sales orientated, self motivated and highly organized individual, you are the right applicant for this position.

The LCDB will evaluate applicants based on experience as well as education. An undergraduate degree or diploma in business related areas will be considered an asset. Knowledge of the agriculture or mining industry would also be considered a strength. A Valid Class 5 driver’s license is needed as some travel will be required.

What’s in it for you?

Compensation is a salary built off of experience and performance. The position is an 18 month term with potential for full time permanent. Full time hours are based off of a 40 hour work week. Standard labor laws apply.
